Contrary to what is being reported in online media portals, social media and even some print media publications, the Petral Thaan Pillaya Trust which works for the cause of AIDS affected children has denied receiving any donation from one of its founding trustees Kamal Haasan.

Kamal Haasan has acted in a commercial ad film for a private costume retailer brand recently, breaking his 40-year long policy of not endorsing private commercial products. It was reported that Kamal will be donating the income he would receive by acting in this ad, to a trust taking care of AIDS affected children.

The ad film was aired in Television channels yesterday (October 2) and a letter inthe letterhead of the PTP Trust thanking Kamal for his donation is being spread in Social media.

However, the PTP trust has denied receiving any donation from Kamal Haasan.

A Twitter message from Rajeev Nambiar, Co-Founder and Trustee of PTP states thus:

"Some of you may have read tweet regarding a donation by Mr.Kamal Haasan to the Petralthan Pillaiya Trust ( PTP Trust) co founded by him. This is false and rubbishing an otherwise genuine intent. Spreading this info gives false hope to our children. We are deeply concerned by the misuse of our letterhead, logo and the genuine intentions of Mr.Kamal Haasan. Please avoid spreading false information - Msg from Rajeev Nambiar (Co-Founder & Trustee)."
