On being signed for 'Shoot Out At Wadala' for a role that was originally written for Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut was indeed on cloud nine for being the chosen one. Well, there could well be a surprise in store for her now, what with a Bipasha Basu turning out to be another leading lady in the biopic.

"There was always a place for the second leading lady in the film. Her character is called Chitra and she has an important part to play in the narrative as well", says our source on condition of anonymity, "Though Kangana has been promised that she is being paired opposite John in the film, seems like she would now have competition both on and off the screen."

One wonders though why announcement around Bipasha joining the cast has come a tad late in the day.

"This is a well adopted strategy by Ekta Kapoor where announcement around the cast of the film is being made on a gradual basis so that there is an element of suspense maintained", comments a PR expert, " "Moreover it is also true that Ekta and Sanjay couldn't have waited for the entire cast to be announced before 'Shoot Out At Wadala' went on floors. Quite some time had anyways gone into announcing the principal cast of the film with Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Kangana and Sonu Sood. However now that Bipasha's name too has popped, it has indeed surprised many out there."

When contacted, the makers did confirm that Kangana was always aware that she would have another leading lady to contend with in the film. Said Sanjay Gupta, "No one has been surprised here. Everyone knew about the various characters in the film so there is no controversy here."
