Kannum Kannum

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

Amidst action-packed commercial entertainers, people still go for movies with good storyline and a strong script, says debutant Marimuthu. He is engrossed with his maiden venture Kannum Kannum, which features Prasanna and a Kerala girl Udhayathara in lead roles.

'I lost count of the producers who gave a patient hearing to the script only to pack me off with a soft drink. When the script is the winner, half the battle is won. Finally, it was Mohanradha and B S Radhakrishnan, who were convinced of my abilities and my script, who encouraged me to commence the project, he says.

Dwelling further, Marimuthu, says, 'It's all about a love or rather a war between the two bitten by the love bug. There is no room for bloodshed or fights I have tried to render the movie in a poetic form with lyricist Vairamuthu giving enough support'.

Prasanna, who proved his acting credentials in all his movies, is also convinced that the movie would click.

He says, 'It is not a usual story. It is engrossing and entertaining. Being part of such a unique film, I vouch that it could be a trendsetter in the industry'.

'I had several big projects coming my way after films like Kanda Naal Mudhal and Kasthoorimaan. But Kannum Kannum impressed me. I listened to the story and immediately accepted to be part of it,' he says.

Udhayathara, another Mallu girl knocking the doors in Kollywood says, 'It was a best crew to work with. People are supportive and encouraging. Language can hardly be a barrier when you get to do quality projects'.

Marimuthu expresses confidence that the hard work and dedication of his cast and crew will yield right results.

Music is by Dheena, and he says he has come up with tunes that fit the story and script.
