Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan's 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' releases this weekend and both would be aiming at pushing their luck to score a hat trick here. Imran's 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' as well as 'Delhi Belly' had done quite well last year and he would be hoping that 2012 begins on a high as well. However let the fact be stated that buzz for this Karan Johar production isn't as high as one would typically associate with a film coming from his stable. Promotion of the film is good, not excellent, while hype is controlled as well.

All of this means that it would be word of mouth that would come in play here for this film that has Kareena Kapoor looking at making it big again after back to back successes in the form of 'Bodyguard' and 'Ra.One'. Of course it would be futile to expect a century in the making here as 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' is a much smaller affair and would be happy if it manages to score half a century as well. However if the film manages to catch the fancy of youth, just as was the case with Imran's 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' which managed to score despite just-about-decent reviews, there may well have a winner in cards.

The film should take an opening in the range of 60%-70% though weekend can be expected to show good progress. Also, since it is the single notable release of the week, it has all the time in the world to consolidate its position at the box office. From commercials perspective, it is a safe film since Karan Johar hasn't spent fortunes in its making and is also seeing good returns already through non-theatrical rights. If the film manages to hang on well through its first week, it can also reap further benefits in the following week since 'Ekk Deewana Tha', which releases on 17th February, is still struggling to see any hype.

Meanwhile one film which would definitely struggle is 'Valentine's Night' which releases alongside 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu'. A Payal Rohatgi starrer, the film has arrived out of nowhere and it would be a surprise if it manages an all-India release for itself.
