Kareena Kapoor-Khan has entered the list of renowned celebrities who have joined hands with UNICEF India, to serve children. In fact, over the last one year, Kareena has been supporting UNICEF India in the area of quality education. She has done some key public service statements to promote child friendly schools and the need to include secondary education under RTE. These have been used extensively as inter personal communication materials for communities across India.

Recently Kareena, who will be next in Singham Returns`, visited Rajasthan and Maharashtra to see for herself, child friendly schools in remote parts of these states and was inspired by spaces where children were full of joy while interacting with teachers, where children felt safe and secure and where interactive and creative tools were used to ensure that children are happy and learning.

During her visits, she also met with girls from KGBV (Kasturba Gandhi Mahavidyala Schools) and understood their aspiration to continue education even at the secondary level. Kareena has lent her voice to advocate for secondary education, especially for adolescent girls above 14 years of age, so that they have opportunities to continue learning and equipping themselves with life skills and prevent marriage before 18 years of age.

Over the years, UNICEF India will work closely with Kareena Kapoor to visit UNICEF supported programs across the country, advocating on behalf of UNICEF with high-level government officials and participation in fundraising and advocacy events.
