One of the few films that received critical praise and also made a sizeable profit at the box office is the 2014 sleeper hit Sathuranga Vettai` that made cinematographer turned actor Natty Natraj a star. The director of the film, Vinod first narrated his second script to Ajith who was impressed, but could not go ahead due to other commitments.

Later Vinod approached Suriya with the same script who agreed to do the film, but had to postpone it several times due to his other projects. Now the long wait for Vinod seems to be over as Karthi has agreed to a project with him to be produced by Dream Warriors. It is reported that the subject is a political thriller on the lines of Karthi-Pa Ranjith`s super hit Madras`.
