Kavan - A full on innovative album
IndiaGlitz  [Monday, February 13, 2017]

Hip Hop Tamizhan after taking an important role in the recent revolution has come out with his latest work through Kavan which has Vijay Sethupathi, Madonna in the lead cast. Directed by KV Anand, Kavan is one of the most expected movies of 2017.

New year: Listen Here

A full on energetic song from TR, Hip-hop and Madonna Sebastian is surely the end of the year funky song to be heard. From the word go it echoes its dance ambience with high on vocals from TR and Hip Hop fusing folk and club to the larger extent. Throughout the song the music director has extensively used electronic synthesizer fusions to keep the party mood alive. Though the underlying tune is a mixture of so many known songs the vocals from the lead singers make it very much alive. The lyrics ride high on "Forget your worries, live the moment" and goes recursively wishing Happy New year, probably the right song at the right time.

Oxygen : Listen Here

Just as the name goes, the track too is fresh and soothes down the mind with pleasant vocals of Hip Hop tamizhan and Sudarshan Ashok. The fusion of tabla, guitar and synthetic orchestration makes this into  must listen categories. Signature of the composer is all over the song, added to the recursive tapping makes the track engaging enough.

Mathuraangalam: Listen Here

Aadhi’s voice is unique and usually stands apart from the rest of the composers, somehow Kaber Vasuki’s vocals resembles the composer remarkably. A modernized Jazz song has that classy feel throughout the rhythm has its moments with extensive trumpet formations. The chorus from children is a fresh outtake and should do better magic with visuals.

Theeratha Vilayatu Pillai: Listen Here

Mixing many genres into one for this energetic goosebumpy song makes this the pick of the album. Starting off with heavy guitar work reminding of alternate metal, the high drums and bass slowly gets away to the powerful lyrics of Bharathiar by embarking into classical Carnatic notes. With four singers the song really is something else, Padmavathy in classical and Anthony Dasan from the folk department kill it with their energetic notes. Hear it for pure innovation it holds.

Boomerang: Listen Here

Probably the least innovative track of the entire album has its moments with some interesting lyrics otherwise it falls into the ordinary category without having much to offer. With some talented singers at its helm the album goes on rhetorically in auto mode.

Rating : 3/5
