A Chennai Court has issued a notice to Mannan, who is releasing upcoming film 'Kazhugu' all over Tamil Nadu, on a case filed by a producer that the former had cheated him to the tune of Rs 37 lakh.

In his petition, Aadheeshwar of Saligramam said he produced a movie titled 'Porkkalam', which was released by Mannan. "He had to settle me Rs 37 lakh, but failed to do so. This forced me to approach the Tamil Film Producers Council."

He added: "After talks in the Council, Mannan agreed to pay the money and gave me a cheque for Rs 12 lakh. But the cheque got bounced. Now I learn that he is getting ready to distribute a film called Kazhugu. He should settle me the money first before going ahead with the new release."

Hearing his plea, Judge Thilakavathi ordered notice to Mannan. 'Kazhugu', starring Krishna and Bindu Madhavi in lead roles, is getting ready for release this weekend. Directed by Sathya Siva, the movie is originally produced by K K Sekar and K S Madhubala.
