The Malluwood domination in Tamil cinema still continues.

This Pongal witnessed the release of three big movies – Aalwar, Pokiri and Thamirabarani. Interestingly, Asin from the God's Own Country featured in Aalwar and Pokiri, while a newcomer from Kerala, Banu played the heroine in Thamirabarani.

Vijay, on the Malluwood heroines dominating the Tamil screen, says, “I don't have special reasons for it. If someone suits the role well, it is immaterial from where she hails. The likes of Asin, Nayantara among others, have proved their acting skills already.”

Vishal, who has paired with the likes of Meera Jasmine, Shreya Reddy and with Banu in Thamirabarani now, says, “All my movies with Malayalam heroines have become big hits. We are not running behind Malayalam girls. Thanks to their good performance, they manage to grab good offers here. Moreover, Malayalam industry is known for coming out with realistic movies. They seem to have had a perfect training in their backyard before venturing to other languages.”
