The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce strongly protested against releasing of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu on Bharath Bundh day in Bangalore.
Among the Congress leaders it is only Ambarish who is on a protest against the central government stand on Cauvery water issue. The other congress MLA's MP's are mum because it is Congress I ruled coalition government in the center.
On Wednesday meeting at New Delhi on the observation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar walked out after the decision was announced with other two ministers.
The Kannada film industry extends full support to the farmer woes. Many of the districts are reeling in drought and central government has declared drought hit in a recent survey. The KFCC said interest of farmers is very important and drinking water also there is paucity in many districts. In that case it is not possible to leave the Cauvery water informed some of the bigwigs of KFCC supporting Karnataka farmers.
The KFCC members held a human chain for furlongs to express support to the state farmers. KFCC president KV Chandrasekhar, Tallam Nanjunda Shetty, SA Chinne Gowda, Sa Ra Govindu, SV Rajendra Singh Babu, Thomas D Souza, A Ganesh, Priya Hassan, Anitha Rani, Ba Ma Harish, Banakar, NRK Vishwanath and others took part in the protest.
The team of Kannada cinema industry is meeting G Madhegowda of 'Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi' and extending further support on Friday.
