Director : Ashish R Mohan

Music: Himesh Reshmmiya

Lyrics : Shabbir Ahmed, Sameer Anjaan and Himesh Reshmmiya

Starring : Akshay Kumar, Asin and Himesh Reshmmiya After a spate of hits the hit Jodi of Akshay Kumar and Himesh Reshammiya are back again with what seems to be another hit film Khiladi 786.While Akshay has given a lot of action with his Khiladi tag, Himesh has churned out popular numbers.  Once again Himesh who has been on a high with box office numbers this season brings in bouquet of 7 numbers and remixes added to it.  There is a medley of new and old hits for the listeners.   Himesh incidentally is also the co-producer and co-actor in the film.

Lonely

Lyrics:Shabbir Ahmed

Singers:Yo Yo Honey Singh, Himesh Reshammiya and Hamsik Iyer

The album kicks off with a rap number by Yo Yo Honey Singh who is further followed by Himesh Reshammiya and Hamsika Iyer. Himesh has used a lot of trumpets and drums to a chart out a high density dance number. Himesh is at his best with nasal tones.  Shabbir has come out with an interesting mix English, Hindi and Punjabi lyrics for the song.

Balma

Lyrics: Sameer

Singers: Sriram and Shreya Ghoshal

Balma pays tribute to our evergreen R.D. Burman's blockbuster number Mehbooba Mehbooba from Sholay. Himesh brings the same style of composition in Balma.  A retro foottapping item number where the music goes on and on and you would never want it to stop.  Himesh composition has been complimented by Sriram who has done a commendable job. Shreya Ghoshal's   husky voice adds the oomph to the song.  Sameer's lyrics too are very catchy.

Remix Version: Teenu Arora

The Balma remix by Teenu Arora is once again a fast paced number with  synthesized beats, however the original is so good that you don't need to listen to this number.

Long Drive

Lyrics: Sameer

Singer: Mika Singh

Next in the track comes an interesting number Long Drive starts off with desi beats joined by Mika in his Punjabi tones.  However it's actually a soft romantic number with a pinch of Sufi.  Lot of hip hop beats and synthesized sounds compliment the song.  Lyrics by Sameer are very simple but the music arrangement is what keeps you engrossed in the song.  The guitar strums in the background add to the romanticism of the song.  Mika really takes you on a long drive with this song.

Remix Version: DJ A Sen and DJ Amann Nagpal

The Bhangra remix' version is more entertaining than the original. . Expect this one to be a show stopper at marriages, parties and discotheques.  DJ A Sen and DJ Amann Nagpal have added more rhythm to the Punjabi bhangra sounds.  A lot of dholak beats add to the dance number.

Saari Saari Raat

Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed

Singer: Himesh Reshammiya

Saari Saari Raat is a soft romantic number.  All Himesh's fans would love this number rendered by Himesh himself.  He is definitely back on the track with this one.  The song begins on a soothing violin and harmonica beats  which goes on throughout the song.   Punjabi lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed are very simplistic and poetic and add to the romanticism of the song.

Hookah Bar

Lyrics: Himesh Reshammiya

Singers: Himesh Reshammiya, Vineet Singh and Aman Trikha

The album forges ahead with Hookah Bar a club dance number rendered by Himesh Reshammiya, Vineet Singh and Aman Trikha bringing back the memories of Himesh's Tandoori Nights.

Remix: DJ A Sen and DJ Amann Nagpal

Although the original is good the remix version adds to the track which creates a mood of celebration and fun.   An apt remix version by DJ A Sen and DJ Amann Nagpal enhances the feel of the club number.

Khiladi 786

Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed

Singers: Vineet Singh, Aman Trikha, Yashraj Kapil, Alam Gir Khan and Rajdeep Chatterjee,

Himesh Reshammiya and Akshay Kumar are definitely back with this title track Khiladi bhaiyya the title track of the film.  Vineet Singh who is joined Aman Trikha, Yashraj Kapil, Alam Gir Khan and Rajdeep Chatterjee, Lyrics by  Shabbir Ahmed are definitely multi coloured. Remix Version: Teenu Arora The remix version by Teenu is as good as the original though among the seven songs this one seems a typical track by Himesh which you have a good number of times. There is nothing novel in it.  Being the title track Himesh could have definitely worked a little harder on this number.

Tu Hoor Pari

Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed

Singers: Javed Ali, Chandrakala Singh, Shreya Ghoshal and Harshdeep Kaur

Tu Hoor Pari is yet another romantic number which is aptly titled Sher-E-Punjab.  Himesh Reshammiya intertwines the Qawalli fom with Punjabi folk in this number.  It brings memories of the 60's songs.   There are a lot of dhol beats throughout followed by a lot Punjabi folk instruments like taashe, tumbhi and ektara intermingled by the humble harmonium and table wherein it adds to the Qawalli form.   Javed Ali, Chandrakala Singh, Shreya Ghoshal and Harshdeep Kaur lend their voices intermittently. However this composition is normal Shabbir's lyrics are too average.

Overall:  Overall a good album. While the five tracks Balma, Hookah Bar Long Drive  and Sari Sari Raat are promising and entertaining, the title track,  Khiladi 786, Lonely and Tu Hoor Pari seems to disappoint a little. However with Akshay Kumar in the lead he seems to add pep to every song he dances to.

Rating: 3/5 stars
