Superstar Rajinikanth, young actor Suriya were some of those personalities from the Chennai film industry who graced the Star Night held at Gacchibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on November 7. It was the love for the people of Andhra that made them come to the event meant to raise funds for flood victims. There were also individual contributions from many actors: Suriya (Rs. 5 lacs), Vishal (Rs. 2.5 lacs), Vijay (Rs. 2 lacs), Jayam Ravi (Rs. 1 lakh), Film Chamber of Commerce (Rs. 10 lacs).

Rajinikanth, who is known to all sections of cine buffs in Andhra, said, "My guru Dasari Narayana Rao garu called me up and said that the industry is going to do a show to help people in Andhra who incurred heavy losses due to floods and that I should make my presence for the event. I have come here to tell you that I will be with the Andhra people whenever anything bad befalls you.

Suriya said, "We should ensure that tragedies like these do not recur. I feel lucky to take part in a show organised with noble intentions."

Human spirit triumphed when Radha Ravi, a Tamil film actor, who did supporting roles in many films in Telugu, said, "Even as we are present here, Nature is showing her fury in Tamil Nadu. When we do a show in our State, we request your presence."

It was a rare occasion when two of biggest film industries in India acted as ambassadors of human unity, in the presence of AP Hon'ble CM K. Rosaiah.
