Vigneshwaran, who is still searching for a break in filmdom, has tried his luck at fame, with 'Kudiyarasu', which is about an investigate journalist, who exposes the misdeeds of an evil and greedy State Minister.

Directed by the former kickboxing champion Shabhir Hussain, the plot happens in a single day unfolding in real time sequence. It has every element in to be a racy thriller. However, abounding romance and some needless narration takes away all sheen. Besides wielding the megaphone, Shabhir Hussain plays a prominent role in the film along with producers Sathya Narayana and Suresh Kannan in pivotal roles.

In a nutshell, the movie deals in detail about the way and means by which a shrewd journalist expose a greedy politician. Vigneshwaran (Kannan) hails from a middle-class family, who is concerned about his society. He decides to become an investigative journalist and contribute his best for the masses. He works in a paper called 'Kudiyarasu'.

On 1 January, 2008, he comes out with a report in his paper on the alleged involvement of a Minister Ambalavanan (Sethu Vinayakam) in the closure of a finance company, where several poor and middle class people had invested rupees which amount to several crores. He vows to provide evidence against the fraudulent activity. Eventually, the way in which he manages to collect the evidences and ensure that the guilty are punished forms the climax.

Director Shabhir Hussain has tried to lace romance and campus life in this fast paced thriller. But, it doesn't fit in the screenplay due to haphazard and amateurish narration.

Vigneshwaran has played his part exceedingly well. He manages to bring the right emotions. Newcomer Suguna plays the heroine, who romances Vigneshwaran but ditches him near the end only to marry his friend. Nizhalgal Ravi, Sethu Vinayakam, veteran actor Srikanth, Paandu, Anu Mohan are also are part of the cast. Karthik Raja's musical score is average. Since the director of the film is a kickboxing champion, the film has more of martial arts in it and usual stunt sequences

What begins on a brisk note eventually falls flat as the plot progresses. The fact that the director has made an honest attempt to glorify the might of fourth estate can be appreciated. An average watch that has plenty of potholes in it.
