'Kumbasaram' is a very gripping emotional thriller which has been narrated very well.  The movie has a very deep and complex theme and the director has done an exc patio am job in hitting the right note for this thriller. Often, the problem with thrillers are that if the pace is not set right, then the entire movie goes haywire. Though we see some intensity become over the top and some romanticisation, we also see dismantling of certain assumptions regarding childhood and innocence which lends a very interesting angle to the movie.

The movie is highly watchable and and one really gets engrossed in this family drama which has the idea of confession working on various levels. Considering that relationships from the crux, we witness a family going through an unusual situation and how they deal with it.

The narrative center around Albey played by Jayasurya who is an auto driver and his wife Meera played by honey Rose. They have a son and the events leading up to their son's illness, certain incidents involving finances and Alby's decisions is what the movie is all about.

Jayasurya has done an expectorant role as Alby. His distraught and anxious face stays throughout. His role as a father is not new. This too has been done with consummate ease. Honey Rose has shed her bold avatar to essay Meera, who comes across as a very loving wife and mother. Supporting artistes have also done very well.

Director,  Aneesh Anwar has conveyed the theme of the movie very powerfully. The novelty of the theme is a big plus point and so is the emotional drama. But one may feel a lag in the second half, leading to an unsatisfactory climax, which can affect the overall feel of the movie
