In a sudden turn of events, Kushboo will not be attending a conclave being organised by the United Nations in Nairobi on March 15. She will stay at home to take care of her mother-in-law, who is undergoing a surgery around the same time.

"It is really unfortunate that I am unable to attend the conference. But what to do? Family comes first to me always and I have to look after my mom-in-law. I have mailed the UN, expressing my inability to attend the event," she says.

The actress-turned-politician adds: "I am sure that I could get such opportunities in the future. But I have only one mother-in-law and I feel it as my inevitable duty to provide her moral support at this point of time. I love her a lot."

Kushboo, who was actively campaigning for the DMK candidate in the Sankarankovil by-election, has also cut-short her campaigning plan and returned to Chennnai after the surgery date was fixed suddenly. The actress is married to director Sundar C and is mother of two girl children.
