For an actor who has portrayed diversified roles, not winning the Nandi is nothing short of a tragedy. This is the feeling of many of Mohan Babu's fans. The versatile actor has done a whopping 550 films so far, without winning a single State Award.

Interestingly, his daughter, Lakshmi Manchu, has won a Nandi (Best Actress in a Negative Role) for her very first film, Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu.

"I really do not understand why Nanna garu has not won a Nandi till date, in spite of the fact that he has portrayed a variety of characters in his long career. As a matter of fact, he doesn't like the procedure by which the Nandi winners are selected. Because he has often criticised the system openly, he has not won a single Nandi. He would not listen even though we keep asking him to not care about it," she says.
