Lap top to students, Education minister move

This year state budget announcement aimed at capturing next year Assembly elections youth vote bank is now getting a proper move from the Education Minister Basavaraja Raya Reddy.

The government and aided college students first year degree students, polytechnic students are getting branded lap top soon. The state budget set aside Rs.300 crores to buy 1.5 lakh lap tops for the students of BA, Bsc, B.com, MBBS, BE, Agriculture etc. It is given to all the students of the first year without looking in to caste and creed.

In a government function in November, the Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah would present the lap top to students that cover 95 percent of them says the education minister.

The education Minister Basavaraja Raya Reddy also announced boarding facility to degree colleges in 10 districts and it is for the first time in India. The degree college hostel facility will be a new boon.

The separate Dr Ambedkar School of Economics at Bengaluru University campus will have first lesson from former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. That also marks the beginning of School of Economics.

The state government is also contemplating on setting of 25 new polytechnic colleges in 25 districts and already Belagavi, Bagalakote, Vijayapura, Kalburgi, Koppala, Rayachuru, Mysuru, Haveri, Ballari districts have been identified for Rs.8 crore building for the polytechnic colleges says the education minister Basavaraja Raya Reddy.
