Lata Mangeshkar honoured with Yash Chopra Award

The first T Subba Rami Reddy foundation instituted National Yash Chopra Memorial Award with a purse of Rs.10.00 lakhs cash and citation was conferred to legendary singer and Bharata Ratna Lata Mangeshkar in an event organized in Mumbai on the 19th October from the hands of I & B Minister Manish Tiwary and assisted by the jury members Anil Kapoor, Hema Malini and Simi Gerewal.

The legendary singer who turned 84 last month said she was not keeping well but had to come since this was about Yash Chopra. She added, "I have a special place for Yash ji in my heart. The mutual respect and affection kept growing over the years irrespective of our meeting personally or not."

TSR said, "It's one of the greatest moments of Indian cinema since an award on Yash Chopra's name was given to the greatest singer of the nation Lata Mangeshkar. Their combination has churned out innumerable melodies during the past 4-5 decades."

The event was also attended by herd of other guests from Bollywood including Akshay Kumar, Rani Mukhaerjee, Anushka Sharma, Jitendra, Subhash Ghai, Boney Kapoor, Sridevi, Poonam Dhillon, Sonali Bindre among others
