Popular filmmaker and scenarist Sachy passed away on June 18, 2020. On the first death anniversary of the director, his wife Siji gave an interview to a popular news daily, in which she made an important revelation. In the chat, Siji said that her husband had plans to recreate Mohanlal's classic hit Thoovanathumbikal (1987) helmed by veteran director Padmarajan. Although she shared about Sachy's wish to remake the film, it's unclear if the director had finalized the cast too.

It may be remembered that earlier, Sachy's close pal and actor Prithviraj had shared a screengrab of their Whatsapp chat, in which the actor had sent a collage of a couple of iconic dialogues from Thoovanathumbikal. Replying to Prithviraj's message, Sachy sent a thumbs-up icon. “Thoovanathumbikal” is a film that has redefined femininity, love, and lust. Actors Sumalatha, Mohanlal, and Parvathy, the film continues to fascinate movie buffs even 33 years after its release.
