Latha Rajnikant visited Kumbakonam to pacify the agitated fans of her hubby.Inbrajan who heads the Rajni fans club in Kumbakonam had lost two of his children in the fire outbreak in the school. When Sathyanarayana the president of the fan clubs visited Kumbakonam he had to face a hostile crowd of Rajni fans. They questioned him about the attitude of their matinee idol. They pointed out that Kamalhassan had paid Rs 12 lakhs and sent a condolence message from Korea while Rajni has given only Rs 1 lakh and did not even send a message.

Later Inbarajan in an interview to a Tamil weekly lashed out at Rajnikant. Latha on reading this took 60 school children from her school `The Ashram’ and reached the town. She visited Inbarajan’s house and offered her condolences. She later visited the houses of the families of the dead children. From the Mahamaham temple tank she took a silent procession with the school children to the burnt down school where she paid floral tributes.
