Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Malayalam Comments

A man who can only speak loudly, just like a `Loud Speaker'. He not only likes to express himself on every issues but also intrude into every one's life around, trying to make his loud opinions and  statements. This is Gopalan, the interesting lead character of the new Mammootty starer `Loud Speaker'. Directed by ace technician Jayaraj, this is the first time after 17 years, both Mammootty and the director has been coming together for a movie. The last time they teamed together was for the hit `Johny Walker' which was noted for its style and presentation. Jayaraj was also engaged in a number of beat movies like Gulmohur and Daivanaamathail' in the last few years.

The movie follows the chatterer `Mike Gopalan' an innocent villager who is called so because he can't even pass a secret without the next person hearing it. Gopalan who was an integral part of a quiet village of Thopramkudy has to be on town because of rich NRI, Menon. The hustle and bustle of city life was a fresh experience for Gopalan who always roams around with a big old transistor attached to his ear, eager to know the recent developments around the world. He, though with his funny character and snobberies, very easily becomes the right hand man of Menon. At first the residents of the neighbouring flats feared and disliked him for his loud intruding character, but very soon they finds that he is the best of their relatives to whom they can turn for everything. Amidst all these, Gopalan also becomes the intimate friend of Menon digging out his past and helping him to trace his ancestral roots.

The `Lagan' fame Gracy Singh debuts in Mollywood as the heroine of `Loud Speaker'  essaying a lead role of Home nurse Annie residing in the same flats while senior television entrepreneur Sasikumar returns to celluloid playing Menon. Others in the cast include Nedumudi Venu, Salim Kumar, Biju Menon, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sukumari, Kalpana, Siddique, K.P.A.C Lalitha, Manju Pillai and Sabitha Jayaraj.

The movie which was shot at Varikkassery Mana and surroundings at Thrissur and Ottapalam is cinematographed by Gunasekharan. And for the first time, the sync sound recording is engaged for this movie, by Hari Mumbai. The music department is handled by Biji Pal and Anil Panachooran. Produced under the banner of New Generation Cinema and distributed by Time Ads, the movie will get to theatres as a Ramzan release.
