Expectations

The Bhatt camp was known for making good musical drama based films in the 80's and 90's era. Many of these films were highly inspired from some Hollywood films, but were totally Indianized for its targeted audience. As the times changed, the banner shifted their focus to horror and erotic films, which managed to rake in quick money for them. Again, most of these films were highly inspired and in some case were also treated in Hollywood film's style. The Bhatt's enhanced such films by adding some fantastic music for films like 'Paap', 'Jism', 'Murder', 'Zehar', 'Kalyug' and so on. Their latest offering is 'Love Games', which has an interesting theme attached to it. The promos are talking about sex and the actors are shown in their glamourous avatar. Due to which there is a decent amount of expectations, mostly among the masses due to its adult theme.

Story

'Love Games' is a story of a rich and young widow Ramona Raichand (Patralekha), who has a secret affair with Sam (Gaurav Arora). Sam is fed up of his rich materialistic life and at that time Ramona introduces him to a book known as 'Love Games'. As per the book, they are supposed to enter a high-society party and target a married couple individually. The one who seduces first, wins the game. Sam agrees to it and starts to enjoy the new thrill in his life until one fine day when he meets Alisha (Tara Alisha Berry). Alisha's is going through a failed marriage with Gaurav (HitenTejwani). Gradually, love blooms between Alisha and Gaurav. Gaurav decides to leave Ramona and at that moment hell breaks out as Ramona is not habitual to lose.

The 'Glitz' Factor

The story is interesting as well as gripping. It has the novelty factor due to which one is glued to the silver screen. The first half of the film is enjoyable due to the novelty factor. Luckily, the forced, predictable and unrealistic twist in the finale at least manages to keep your interest intact in the film.There are some enjoyable scenes featuring Patralekha. The dialogues are bold and one might find them titillating at some point. The cinematography is good and goes will the flow of the film.Music has always been an integral part of such films. 'Awargi' and 'Niravana' are good. The English track in the start of the film blends well with the film.'Mohabbat' is outstanding.Vikram Bhatt has been balancing between the world of horror and erotica genre. Some of his films have been good while others have been totally bad. His last few films 'Mr.X', 'Creature', etc were not up to the mark but, out here he tries to get plenty of things in the right place. He holds his audiences interest with help of the unique theme and places it well. Patralkeha in her vampish role is fantastic. She surprises everyone with her bold avatar in terms of her physical appearance as well as over the usage of swear words. Tara Alisha Berry looks cute and slips into her role, easily. The innocence on her face works in the favour of her half-baked role.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The middle portions drag to the fullest with repetitive scenes and some unwanted tracks. The moment the novelty factor is established the screenplay goes on a stagnating point.The makers could have elaborated more on the novelty factor of the film, rather than focusing more on the age old love story.The back story of Gaurav fails to get established due to which you fail to connect with his character.. There should have been more detailing in characters of Gaurav, Patralekha and even Tara Alisha Berry.The directorshould have played more with the adult theme and add some thrills in the film. The second half of the film drags to the fullest due to its bland story line which has been shown in many films.Gaurav Arora has good screen presence but, fails to carry the film on his shoulder, solely. Rukhsar was totally misfit as an over glamorous psychologist. HitenTejwani was wasted.

Final 'Glitz'

'Love Games' is a huge disappointment for all those who are expecting non-stop sex and skin show. The ones who like Bhatt's style erotic thriller with decent music might enjoy the film. It's like playing a snake and ladder type of game where at one point your rise and at the next there is a huge fall.
