`Explosive' is the operative word that the unit hands use to describe Maharathi and the performance of Balakrishna (its hero) in it.

Quite simply, Maharathi has the potential to be a typical entertaining and gripping mass masalas, the likes of which Balakrishna is quite famous for.

P Vasu, who is a past master in rustling up such entertainers, is the director.

Balakrishna and Vasu combination, on the face of it, promises much. Naturally, the market is very enthused about the film.

Though Balakrishna hasn't tasted any big success in recent times, his films always arrive with certain of expectation. Maharathi is no different.

Produced by Vakada Appa Rao, it has an array of cast led by Balakrishna, Sneha, Meera Jasmine, Jayapradha. It is a dream team, says director Vasu, whose Chandramukhi is now part of the south Indian film legend.

As the film's writer Thotapalli Madhu recently said, Balakrishna dominates the movie. He plays a leader, who fights for solutions many problems plaguing us.

But it is a fight suffused with all the elements. Adds Vasu: `It is about many things. Beyond action, there is comedy, sentiments, drama and glamour.'

Balakrishna, who is also credited with giving shape to the story when it was narrated to him, has a very good role. `It is something his fans would just love,' says the unit.

Appa Rao, the producer, adds, `it will be a clean entertainer that will appeal to the masses'.

The highlight of the film will be the exchanges between Balakrishna and Jayapradha. `It will be every powerful and both have enjoyed the contest,' says the director.

Apart from Jayapradha, there are two young heroines. Sneha and Meera Jasmine. Both beautiful and very talented. `The script will do justice to their skills,' he points out.

`Each and every character in the film is equally important. Especially the character being played by Jayapradha is excellent and she has also performed well. Balakrishna's role is unique, something he has not attempted before,' he points out.

Balakrishna's getup is also being talked of highly. The film's action sequences are also said to be very explosive.

Shekhar V Joseph's cinematography would be a highlight, says the producer.

Gurukiran, who is a top-rated musician in Kannada, is the music director.

Navneeth Kaur, Pradeep Ravat, Naresh, Jayprakash Reddy, Kovai Sarala, Velu, Ali, Rallapalli, Venu Madhav, Satya Rajesh, Lakshmi Pathi, Gautam Raj, Geeta Singh are also in the cast. The film will release in November.
