Situation stalls the melody in 'Main...' music
Friday, February 4, 2005 • Hindi Comments

Himesh Reshammiya's conventionally affable compositions set on Sameer's characteristic lyrics, the music of "Main..." is slowly but steadily getting noticed.

Udit Narayan's docile and subtle start in the tuneful "Deewanapan Deewangee" is impressive. Complemented by Alka Yagnik's emotive singing and the rather delightful filming, the track is instantly congenial, reports Bollywood Trade.

"Just Walk Into My Life" matures into an averagely melodious track when Shaan continues crooning the Hindi-Punjabi lyrics etched by Sameer.

Shaan's customised singing for Ajay's character is very impressive and Sunidhi Chauhan's efforts, though only toward the end, are quite noticeable.

In "Papa Mere Papa", Baby Aparna takes the lead while Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal join in later. The girl's rendition of the song is wonderful, but the tune is just average.

The sensuous "Teri Galiyon Se" sung by Chauhan sets the stage for some elegance and oomph from Sushmita Sen.

But "Raat Hai Soyi Soyi" sung by Sonu Nigam puts you to sleep. But then again, that is what a lullaby is meant to do.

Sameer's pertinent lyrics add value but the song's situation appears to take a toll on its melody.

The melody is restored in the end with Udit Narayan's "Dil Mera Todo Naa" concluding the album. But alas, it's too late.

The conventional compositions and music might just average music sales. But when adjunct in the film, they serve their purpose.

As mentioned earlier, it's a very familiar case of situation taking a toll over melody, but then "Yahan Aisa Hi Hai"!
