What

Terrific!! Wow!! I don't remember the last time I had a ball of a time in a theatre.... `Makkhi' is endless fun, a complete dhaamaal of a film. Undeniably the most `creative' revenge drama of Indian cinema with an animation that can make the west jealous..

I found myself rooting for a fly and enjoyed each and every bit of it... Sounds insane in finding yourself rooting for a fly which doesn't has any existence in our life more than for our superstars is simply those memorable cherished moments of movie watching for which we visit our theatres again and again.

S.S. Rajamouli's `Ega' dubbed in Hindi as `Makkhi' is already a box office legend down south with around 130 cr collection and the Hindi version having the voice over's of Ajay Devgn and Kajol is bound to add the figures in multiples as the word of mouth spreads cause the movie is quite unique. Revenge dramas over here don't happen the way its done in `Makkhi' and so is the level of animation done here. Its so dazzling, so lovingly detailed you can make out individual hairs on the fly who never says die... Can dance like Hrithik and Salman, do riding stunts like Ajay Devgn and has the charisma and on screen magic and mass appeal of Rajanikanth... unbelievable!! Its impossible not to have a good time watching `Makkhi'.

Well.. Am I sensing danger for superstars here....? Khans, Kumars, watch out...!

The Story.. of course

Karz, Madhumati, Karan Arjun.. bollywood had a glorifying list of revenge punar janam dramas.. But `Makkhi' is a rebirth of Indian cinema's revenge dramas twined with mind-blowing animation..

`Makkhi' is the story of Jani (Nani) and Bindu (Samantha Prabhu), who are in love but never communicate their feelings to each other. Sudeep (Sudeep), a billionaire, gets attracted to Bindu and wants to possess her, but realizes she is in love with Jani, which upsets him. Ironically, the moment Bindu expresses her love to Jani, Sudeep murders him. Jani is reborn as a fly...

What to look out for

A technical masterpiece. Those who are familiar with S.S. Rajamouli's work `Magadheera' 'Yamadonga' and `Vikramarkudu' (Rowdy Rathore) know what he is capable of. The master storyteller has 9 consecutive super hits to his credits out of which 8 are blockbusters. This time Rajamouli has gone further and bettered himself.

He redefines Indian animation and revenge drama in `Makkhi'. The graphic designers at Makuta VFX give us the most loveable fly of our life and designed it to perfection. Really it can't get better than this. The fly almost like a human. I will not reveal much as it will spoil the fun. Coming to other notable aspects.

Sudeep is extraordinary as he accomplishes the feat of emoting to fly with such ease. Simply brilliant. Samantha is beautiful. Nani impresses in short and sweet role. Music maestro M.M. Kreem's element can be felt in 'Arre Arre' and 'Naam Apun Ka Jani' Devi Krishna Kadiyala's audiography is smashing so is the background score. K.K. Senthil Kumar's lenses are in top form over here. Hindi dubbing is adequate.

What Not?

Could have skipped the tantric, black magic thing to maintain the bar and standard set by top quality animation and creative genius.

Conclusion: 'Makkhi' is a masterpiece in India's history of revenge dramas. A trendsetter which has something to offer everyone in this world. Whether you have top honors in making animation, innovation, drama, comedy, or a rom com cinema, `Makkhi' can make you both wonder and entertain you simultaneously.. Thank You Rajamouli for this master class which raises the bar of Indian cinema.
