Popular Malayalam actress Roma is all set to be launched in Kollywood. And this is through a negative role in the film ‘Vanjikottai Valiban’.

The movie is being produced by Krithika and Bhagavath Singh under the banner Gandharva Celluloid Creators. SK Jeeva, who has earlier directed Karthik’s ‘Lovely’ and Parthipan’s ‘Pudhumaipithan’, returns after a long time with this film.

P Vasu’s son Shakthi plays the lead in this film, and is being paired with popular Malayalam actress Roma. Sadhaga Paravaigal Ramesh, who is known for his live performances in light music concerts, will be launched as a music director. Bollywood cinematographer Gopi cranks the camera in the film.

The film’s crew has clarified that the film has been titled based on the Gemini Ganesan-Vyjayanthi superhit of yesteryear, but has no resemblance to the film whatsoever. Explaining the title, the film’s director says it simply means ‘The man who wins over a girl’s heart.’

“Vanji refers to a girl, and by Vanjikottai, I mean her heart. And the Valiban is the hero who wins her over,” says the director, who reveals that the heroine is actually the villain to the story.

Shooting for ‘Vanjikottai Valiban’ begins on June 22 in Goa.
