Mammootty has taken the first step to put an end to the Malayalam Super Stars Vs Thilakan controversy.

Talking to the media on the location of his latest movie, ‘Pokkiri Raja’ on Saturday, the super star said he never called for a ban on the veteran actor. “We never called for a ban of Thilakan. I have nothing against Thilakan and I am ready to act with him, if he is ready to act with me. The issue with Thilakan will be resolved by AMMA soon. In fact, he should be an elder brother to all of us and guide us when we are wrong. But when he stands away from AMMA and criticises us, that hurts,” he said.

Mammootty also said that statements made by orator-critic Sukumar Azhikkode were unwarranted. “His statements on Mohanlal’s personal issues are totally baseless and unfair. I have known Mohanlal for the last 30 years and I very well know that the statement is wrong. It is also very upsetting,” he said.

Thilakan is in dispute with various film associations including the AMMA, for his utterances against some superstars and select directors. The dispute led to a public slugfest and turned ugly when non-film personalities like Sukumar Azhikkode entered the scene.

Reacting to Mammootty’s statement, Thilakan said: “Honestly I have nothing against Mammootty and Mohanlal and I do respect their talents. I will talk to Mammootty if he calls me.”
