Yesterday in a seminar on a topic on contemporary democracy Megastar Mammootty opened up his mind on the current protest by the people of Tamilnadu against the intrusion into their culture and civilization by banning Jallikattu.

This agitation should be seen as a protest against globalization and liberalization. He said Keralites have the habit of disowning and criticizing protests sitting at the comforts of their home. They don`t remember that the state of Kerala was formed out of constant protest and agitation.

He said, when earlier the fishermen of Kerala protested on the issue of deep sea trawling many spoke against it. They didn`t think that the fish that is caught by them is not consumed by they themselves but by all. Jallikattu does not harm or kill bulls like in bull fights in foreign countries. It is a demonstration of manliness and heroism. This is the spirit of the people of Tamilnadu. He said that in Tamilnadu an agitation is slowly forming against the hegemony of corporate companies and Multinational companies. He concluded by saying that Kerala cannot dream of such an agitation which came into limelight without taking cue from any political, religious and caste organizations. This agitation rose up without any leadership and without the nudge of any religion, caste or political parties. People fought with a single mind against the establishment in a peaceful manner.
