It seems Mani Ratnam has cancelled the Telugu project that he had planned to do as his next after the 2013 Tamil film ‘Kadal’ which was a colossal failure at the box office. Even the veteran director’s actress wife Suhasini had confirmed to media that her husband’s next directorial will have Tollywood stars Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna in the lead roles. But now the director seems to have put off the idea for unknown reasons.

Mani Ratnam drops the Nagarjuna-Mahesh Babu project

Nagarjuna has revealed in a recent interview that Mani Ratnam had told him that the project has been shelved. He also said he did not know the exact reason for the ace filmmaker’s decision. It is to be remembered Nagarjuna had earlier told that he was completely bowled over by the script narrated by Mani Ratnam to him. Mahesh Babu who was supposed to play another lead role in the flick had equal importance. Meanwhile it is also rumored that Mani Ratnam will be directing Telugu Superstar Chiranjeevi in his 150th film that will be produced by the star’s son and actor Ram Charan Teja.

We will have to wait for an official confirmation from the director’s office.
