‘Mary Kom’ is directed by debutant Omung Kumar, and produced is by Viacom18 Motion Pictures & Bhansali Productions. Known for his larger than life creations, Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be associating with the talented debut director Omung Kumar for this impressive biopic for the first time. In fact, this is Bhansalil’s first outing in this genre.
‘Mary Kom’, is about the Indian Boxer and Olympic Bronze medalist MC Mary Kom, her life, struggles, family and her perseverance to be the best. National Award winner Priyanka Chopra plays a never-seen-before character as that of real-life boxer, Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom.
Most champions make their name, but she made history. Based on the true story of Mary Kom, the trailer depicts Mary Kom’s life beautifully including moments of her struggle where she gave up boxing to enjoy motherhood. Even though the world forgot the boxer’s accomplishments, Mary Kom could not forget her passion for boxing. With the support of her husband Mary Kom was able to reignite her zeal and got back to the ring in spite of being a mother to 2 kids.
The film is scheduled to release on September 5th 2014.
