Matinee Preview

`Second Show' was one movie that came up with fine marketing techniques, helping for a decent landing of Megastar Mammootty's son Dulqar Salman. After this hit movie, the producers, AOPL is back this time with another new hero, who is none other than Mammootty's brother Ibrahim Kutty's son -Maqbool Salman. The actor, who had appeared in a prominent role in Asif Ali- A. K  Sajan movie 'Asura Vithu', will have himself as a full length hero in this AOPL production titled  as 'Matinee'.

The movie will be also the landing pad for the fashion photographer tuned director Aneesh Upasana, who was looking for a right hero for quite some time. Maqbool who arrived for audition but satisfied him to the core that within minutes Aneesh and the producers were ready to have him as their next big presentation to Mollywood through this 'Matinee' . A film that tells about the lives inside the film making business, 'Matinee ' is scripted by Anil Narayanan, who present this movie as a memento to all who , at some point of their life longed to become a movie celebrity.

Maqbool appear as Najeeb, born to an orthodox Muslim family of Malabar region. His father Moosa Hajiar is a staunch believer who even doesn't like to hear the name of  cinema. Though Najeeb had enough education and familial backup, Najeeb fails to achieve any appreciable job. His only solace is in the form of cinema and the local girl , Sainaba, who likes him a lot. Najeeb, who is but a cinephile somehow take chances and lands at Chennai. After some difficult days, Najeeb gradually finds a space in the tinsel town.

Savithry , who hails from a poor family of Palakkad reached Chennai only due to his admiration and frantic love for classical dances.And at Chennai she was trying to settle into some jobs that will let her live comfortably in the movie city. But unexpectedly she also lands into filmdom. The movie goes on to tell the lives of Najeeb and Savithri, who share much in common and ultimately, falls in love.  And as the case of everyone making the difficult journey into cinema, the first Friday's Matinee is very important as life may change in a single afternoon. So is the case of Najeeb and Savithri whose life changes after a very fine Friday matinee.

According to the filmmakers, everybody born on this earth has at some pint of time  dreamt of being an actor or actress. Most people don't do anything about it. Very few try and fail mid way. A fortunate few make it and we now realize them as starts. `Matinee'  is said to be a tribute to all these categories of people.

Mythili comes up as Savithri in this movie which will have debutante Mythili Krishna as Sainaba. While Thalasivasal Vijay comes up as the Moosa haji, the movie will also feature Indrans, Sai Kalinga, Valsala Menon, Soaja , Sunila and Biju Kodungalloor in other important roles.

Matinee' wile also present DeenNath Puthencherry, the son of late Gireesh Puthenchery to cinema. His fine lyrics will be set to tunes by Ratheesh Vega. Papinu is the Cinematographer of `Matinee' which has already completed much of its canning at Kochy.

As of now, the movie is expected to be on theatres in a few weeks, just before the Christmas season.
