AOPL's new film 'Matinee' was raging with optimum visibility through heavy publicity last week with its release all set to happen on last Friday. But the movie seems to have stuck up with a revengeful decision from the Kerala Film Exhibitors Association, who is resisting the release of the movie in their theatres. It is learned that this decision for an unofficial ban from the exhibitors came in the wake of a theatre owned by the AOPL group not participating in the strike that was held last month. The case under discussion is about the Carnival Cinemas situated at Angamaly, which was not closed down during the days of the strike that had created some bad name for the exhibitors.

But AOPL maintains that the ban on 'Matinee' was based on a basic technical error as AOPL Entertainment is a separate private limited company and Carnival belongs to another company though both have some common investors. AOPL Entertainment or Matinee are being wrongly penalised for no crime, without a fair trial, according to the producer.

'Matinee' featuring Maqbool Salman and Mydhili is now scheduled for a release on the 7th of December. But the exhibitors associations are planning to discuss the issue only on the 8th of this month, which is sure to further delay the release of the movie. On a final look, Mollywood has now become an industry where personal egos and local issues may finally take the breath out of a already dilapidated filmdom.
