Mayapuri

Coming from a group of debutante is 'Mayapuri, made in 3D. Strictly aimed for children, it needs to be seen whether the new age kids will find this dish interesting, which doesn't have any fresh or interesting tale to tell. And following this title, we say it will frighten you for its  inane nature and substandard quality.

The movie starts with Adithyan alias Appu, (Ramzan) coming to his ancestral home to spend the vacation with his grand parents. The village has been witnessing the disappearance of a boys and girls of his age, and there remains little clues about them. Adi finds from his grandfathers' room, a special locket which will help him to reach the underworld kingdom  donned by fiery magical lady ‘kapali’. She has for everything Rudrakarman(Kalabhavan Mani), her man Friday who aids her in all ghastly deeds to grab a magical light globe which can make them even stronger. The globe is currently in another place called Mayapuri, where only children or innocent people have the access to go and  fetch the thing. Adi and his friends now embark on a journey to the land of Kapali to free the children of the village which forms the crux of the story.

It was quite difficult to figure out this story from the things that is presented on screen, but we managed to do so. And rightly you decipher how difficult it will be for the targeted audience to  do the same. A banal story which cannot be digested, the stupid sequences by director Mahesh Keshav that follows does not even warranty a comic film and are stretched for no particular reason. The episodes that thwart the children's plans of reaching Mayapuri are nonsensical and silly. Add to that are the poor 3D effects, which makes you laugh and cry for your reasons to have selected this one to watch. We wonder what Kalabhavan Mani has to do in those comical costumes and funny makeover originally intended to frighten the children.

Right from the start, the writing is poor and clichéd. The technical sides are also poor making it a real headache to watch. The BG scores are quite loud than what you could bear.

With an outcome that is way below the mark, this Mayapuri 3D can be best avoided.
