Medaram Jatara is a film being made on the Sammakka-Sarakka legend. Directed by Sashidhar and produced by Bellam Sureshbabu, the film is done but for a song. A song was recently shot in a forest in Vikarabad. Dubbing and editing are also being completed.

What is unique about this film is that it is based on the legend of Sammakka and Saralamma, the two great women fighters who famously fought with the Kakatiyas for the rights of the Girijan folks. Pravallika and Sneha are playing the roles of the aforementioned heroines.

Also starring Suman, Prithviraj, Sai Kiran and others, the film has music by Devendra. Actor Suman has said that the producer wanted to invest in the film just to take tell the legend of Sammakka and Sarakka to the people. Speaking about the movie, the makers say that Medaram Jatara is the biggest tribal festival in Asia.

"We have made the film only after thoroughly understanding the life history of Sammakka and Saralamma. They sacrificed their lives in their fight for the rights of the Girijan community. Our film is entirely different from the earlier films based on their lives", they said.

Written by Devendra, the film boasts of good art work and graphics.
