Actor-director Parthiban is known for doing things differently.

But he is upset with Tamil filmdom for being indifferent to him.

Parthiban has resigned from the executive committee of the South India Film Artistes Association (SIAA) after being allegedly ill-treated at the felicitation function organized by the association to honor Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Asked about quitting the Nadigar Sangam, Parthiban, says, "I chose to quit the post only to express my unhappiness over ill-treatment meted out to me at the function.

"I initiated the protest against pirated VCDs by going on a fast after the release of my Kudaikul Mazhai. However, I was excluded from the list of people who went to meet the Chief Minister at the Secretariat. Even at the function, my name was left out among the list of speakers and I was upset over the way I was treated.

"I was given a seat and allowed to talk only at the last moment. I was given due respect only after Vijayakanth intervened and pacified me".

Sources close to him say that Parthiban is really cut up with the turn of events. There is no attempt at showmanship here, they say.
