Mohanlal officially confirmed that he will be playing the lead role in his much-talked project Odiyan. The actor took to his official Facebook page to announce this big news. Produced by Mohanlal's close associate Antony Perumabavoor, for the banner Aashirvad Cinemas, Odiyan will mark the directorial debut of ad film-maker Shrikumar Menon. Manju Warrier will essay the lead role in the mega-budget movie.

“Announcing my next project Odiyan. The movie, guaranteed to be a visual treat is produced by Antony Perumbavoor in the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie also prides itself as the directorial debut of famed advt director Shrikumar. Manju Warrier takes up the female lead role in Odiyan. National Award winning scriptwriter Harikrishnan will be rendering script for the movie. Production design will be done by Sabu Cyril while Shaji Kumar will be seen behind the camera of Odiyan,” Mohanlal wrote on his Facebook page. He also posted a picture with the team members of Odiyan, along with his post on Facebook.

It is reported that the movie will be made in International standards with foreign technicians handling the VFX department. There are also speculations doing the rounds that an Indian superstar will be part of the cast. The details of the cast and crew are expected to be announced soon. If all goes well, Odiyan is expected to start rolling on May 25.

The complete actor is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming war movie 1971 – Beyond Borders, directed by Major Ravi. Meanwhile, he is also busy with the shooting of his upcoming B Unnikrishnan movie 'Villain' in which he is playing an ex-cop. Villain also features Manju Warrier in the female lead.
