Mohanlal, Meera Jasmine – Filmfare winners yet again

Toeing the same lines of the Kerala State Awards, Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine won the much coveted FilmFare awards, in its 55th edition, for their performances in the movies 'Paradesi' and 'Ore Kadal' respectively.

This was the ninth filmfare trophy that was presented to Mohanlal in his delightful career of 27 years. An emotional Mohanlal received the awards in the colorful and glittering ceremony at Chennai's Nehru Indoor stadium "I consider 'Paradesi' as a landmark in my film career", he said at the occasion.

Lakshmi Gopalaswamy was selected the best supporting actress while Saikumar bagged the award for the best supporting actor for his performance in 'Anandabhairavi'. While 'Kathaparyumpol' was selected the best movie of the year, Babu Thiruvalla was adjudged the best director for his debut feature 'Thaniye'.

In Tamil section, 'Paruthiveeran' walked away with all the major awards including awards for the best actor and best actress for Karthi and Priya Mani respectively.

In Telugu it was Shekhar Kamula's ''Happy Days" that emerged the major winner. The function was attended by numerous stalwarts of the south including Tabu, Venkatesh, Junior NTR, Nayantara , Vijay ,Rashmi Madhavan, Karthi and Suriya while dancing divas like Kathrina Kaif, Rambha, Divya, Hansika, Mamika and Shreya Saran took the stage by storm.
