Malayalam producers have taken a strong weapon in hand to reduce the production rate of their films. Same way even our producers made iron rules for the films’ budget but then they were not able to bring it into practice.

Reports say that Mollywood had faced a massive loss of 150 crores as the cost of the production increased and many films were a dud at box-office.

Malayalam film producers came together for reducing the cost of filmmaking and promoting new directors and have decided not to cast any superstars in their movies. Filmmakers say the huge remuneration charged by superstars is the main reason why the cost of a film shoots up. The producers have decided that the total production cost of a film with a superstar should not go beyond 3.5 crores and filming should be completed by 45 days of time. Apart from this, the negative film roll which is used should not go beyond 60 thousand feet.

Sources say that 60-65 percent of the film’s budget is used for paying the salary of the stars and other technicians. But the fact is salary in Mollywood is very low when compared to the salary we give to our stars.

Meanwhile, director Joshy wanted to direct a film with Mohanlal in the lead. And the budget of the film was estimated to be 5 crores. Without wasting anymore time they have dropped the film, as the budget was more.

People, will this ever happen in Tamil too? Hmmm… Seriously doubtful!
