From the day the title of the movie was announced it faced a lot of heat from the public, however Janathan is unscathed. The director gives out reasons on why the project did not take up when initially Jeyam Ravi and Jiiva were supposed to play however the roles went on in the hands of Vijay Sethupathi and Arya.

The project is currently produced by UTV and hence the budget difference when directed by a corporate and individual sector plays a key role. Furthermore the dates of the key actors did not match and so the SP Janathan had to stick to his alternatives. The National award winning director further mentioned that the hunt for the heroine is still on, and said that the movie will have a single heroine for both the heroes.
