Debutant director Santosh Anandaram has left strong shades of a promising commercial director. The using of ‘Nagarahavu’ yesteryear Kannada blockbuster inside his commercial cropper ‘Mr and Mrs Ramachari’ brings him additional crowd and it is advantage for rocking star Yash as Dr Vishnuvardhana fans add up to his existing popularity.

The character of ‘Ramachari’ in ‘Nagarahavu’ of 1972 debut of Dr Vishnu and Dr Ambarish is redefined to the present day context. The cinematic liberty what Santosh Anandram had taken is only from the point of view of box office. He is clever, intelligent and workaholic is evident from this 155 minutes and 34 seconds film. This film has liberally used the tunes of ‘Nagarahavu’ and the popular song ‘Havina Dwesha 12 Varusha…. There is some good synchronization to Yash character of yesteryears Ramachari played by Dr Vishnu.

For Kannada cinema industry in 2014 we have an additional promising director like how we got Prashanth Neel from ‘Ugram’, S Krishna from ‘Gaja Kesari’, Rakshit Shetty from ‘Ulidavarau Kandanthe’ etc.

Yash on the footsteps of Dr Vishnuvardhana suits the bill precisely. His anger, ability to dance, delivery of dialogues, action portions, timing and his ‘Hava’ has multifold from this film.

Last bench student in college Ramachari (Yash) is front runner in his life. The neglected son because he is not able to digest his books becomes a torch bearer to the family. The studious son in the family ditches the parents. When Ramachari falls in love with Divya (Radhika Pandit) – a hardcore fan of Dr Vishnuvardhana he names Divya as ‘Margaret’ (Margaret played by Shuba in Nagarahavu is counterpart after Alumelu played by Arathi misses Ramachari).

It is just one misunderstanding that makes Margaret to keep away from Ramachari. Ramachari was right on his part because he attended his father at a very difficult stage of life. It is a gain of family bonding for Ramachari that he missed so far. It is a few more twist in the tale when Margaret alias Divya takes stern decision in her life seeking a new partner.

What next you can watch with ‘Santosha’(Happiness) and Ananda (good feel). A fitting film for commercial film lovers from director Santosh Anandaram!

Yash has increased his potentiality from his earlier film. His view point of commercial needs is very well met in this film. A masala entertainer for his fans is served very well. There are a few emotional scenes with father character that earns applaud from family audience. Dance, action and dialogue delivery with shades of Dr Vishnuvardhana gets him good mileage.

A beauty with brain is what we have said all these days to Radhika Pandit. She is a growing potential actress. It seems her home work, make up and costume selection is additional plus point for this asset of Kannada cinema industry.

Achyuth Kumar as father is splendid. Not only his dialogue delivery but his feelings expressed sure to get him some awards.

V Harikrishna has given the needs of a commercial film in his tunes. Upavasa Yee Kannige…is melodious best among all. Vadhi in cinematography gives adequate effort to make it look pleasant on silver screen.

The special effects, dialogues, editing and production values are grand. Jayanna and Bhogendra duo is sure to win in this film for masses.

Score – 8/10
