A couple of years back, Antra Mali said 'Main Madhuri Dixit Banana Chahti Hoon'. She didn't become Madhuri Dixit but intsead turned director with her upcoming flick 'Mr. Ya Miss' where her character plays both Mr. as well as Miss! Co-directed by Satchit Puranik, MYM also stars Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh who have proved their mattle with comedy. So what does one expect from the music? Nothing exceptional but something peppy that would spice up the proceedings! One listens to this Nitin Raikwar written and composed song to see of this holds true!
1) Fakr Hai Aurat [Singer: Shibani Kashyap]
Shibani Kashyap is the singing voice of Antara in the movie as she sings as many as three tracks in the album. First to come is heavy-on-beats and high-on-rock number 'Fakr Hai Mujhe Main Hoon Aurat' where the song intends to put females at the pedestal for being better when compared to the other sex. With a heavy bass and some high on volume rendition by Shibani, it is a fine situational piece that should enliven the proceedings
2) Kamsin Kali [Singer: Vinod Rathod, Shibani Kashyap, Mona Sarkar]
Soon after a high voltage 'Fakr Hai' comes a light number 'Kamsin Kali' that follows the RGV tradition of making a parody of any romantic number belonging to conventional genre and norm. With lyrics that belong to the kind from the 70s and the 80s, this ear friendly number is one of the best by Vinod Rathod in months as he sings with a much required effect. There is also some old world feel to it when Antara Mali is has her sweet little bouts of laughter at frequent intervals. It is fun to watch Riteish Deshmukh getting all romantic as a 70s hero with a body language to match. Shibani Kashyap gives good support by coming with a slight westernized rendition but the song clearly belongs to Rathod. This one is sure to bring the house down!
3) Jeena Hai [Singer: Shibani Kashyap]
The style of 'Fakr Hai Aurat' is carried forward with 'Jeena Hai' that is sung again by Shibani Kashyap. The arrangement style is again the same and the song belongs to the pop genre this time around. A song about a male adjusting himself in the body of a female, it's about living the life the way it is without having any complaints whatsoever. This track too is situational and would be enjoyed primarily as a part of the narrative rather than being hummed along by anyone.
4) Fakr Hai Aadmi [Singer: Sonu Nigam]
Sonu Nigam's rendition of male superiroity 'Fakr Hai Mujhe Main Hoon Aadmi' comes later in the album but as per the movie's plot, it should be the one that should come at the very beginning of the movie. A much relaxed version that is also better than the female version in terms of style, treatment and rendition, 'Fakr Hai aadmi' has an attitude that is bound to be carried with aplomb by Aftab. It has a bit of jazz to it that makes it contemporary and in turn also reminds of 'Dil Mera Dil' from 'Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega'.
5) Kaanha Kaanha [Singer: Sonu Nigam, music: Ronkini Gupta, lyrics: Satchit Puranik]
Seems its the season of devotional numbers being incorporated in the movies. Just a few days back we had one by Jagjit Singh in Shikhar and now it is Sonu Nigam's turn to come up with one in 'Kaanha Kaanha'. The last song in the album, it has good lyrics by Satchit Puranik, but in the context of the movie they should turn out to be hilarious as they deal with the suffering Aftab Shivdasani is going through after being converted into Antara Mali [that's the plot of the movie!]. Extremely well sung by Sonu Nigam, inspite of the theme, it doesn't loose its devotional essence. Quite enjoyable track by composer Ronkini Gupta, even if one hears it stand-alone without keeping the movie's storyline in mind.
