Actor Kamal Haasan could not visit 'Mellisai Mannar' M.S.Viswanathan's house in which the latter's mortal remains was kept. However the veteran star drove to the Besant Nagar crematorium and paid his last respects to the departed legend.

In his condolence message for MSV's demise, the 'Papanasam' star has said ""Mr. MSV has blended into Tamil cinema history inseparably. He is part of Tamil and south Indian cultural tapestry. MSV has become the background score for many people's lives. They nostalgically recount their own life with his music playing in their minds. He has fans beyond his own generation and time. A good example is Shruti, my daughter. She was studying music in the USA and on her return wanted to meet Mr. MSV for she had become his fan. Fame rested ever so gently on his shoulders and he often brushed his own fame and glory aside to celebrate other artistes irrespective if their age. We will only miss him in his physical for. His music will stay on. I am thankful to him for enriching my life with his music".".

M.S.Viswanathan has composed music for many early films of Kamal Haasan like 'Naianithaley Inikkum'. 'Manmadhaleelai'. 'Nizhal Nijamagiradhu'.to name a few. These films and their super hit songs definitely played a role in the actor becoming a star.
