Mubarakan Review

Expectations

Director Anees Bazmi has directed many comedies right since the 90's era. In recent times his movies have marked huge success at the box office. These movies are loved even on the T.V, thus every film of his manages to gain good amount of excitement.

'Mubarakan', also has Anil Kapoor in his film along with double dosage of Arjun Kapoor. The expectations are sky high and judging by the trailer of the film. It looks like the expectations might get fulfilled.

Story

'Mubarakan' is a story of identical twins Karan Singh and Charan Singh (Arjun Kapoor). After the accident of their parents, Karan and Charan are raised separately by their aunt Jeeto (Ratna Pathak Shah) in London and uncle Baldev Singh (Pawan Malhotra) in India. Karan is a happy go lucky type of guy who is in love with Sweety (Ileana D'Cruz), while Charan is a sweet and innocent guy who wants to get married to Nafisa (Neha Sharma). Jeeto decides to get Karan married to their family friend Sandhu's (Rahul Dev) daughter Binkle (Athiya Shetty). Sadly, things get interchanged and both Karan and Charan decide to seek the help of their younger uncle Kartar Singh (Anil Kapoor).

The 'Glitz' Factor

The story might look typical, but is different, yet belongs to the same genre. The comical part in this movie is not slapstick as we used to see in yesteryear films. It's more of situational and has been presented in a decent manner. The lead characters have been presented with their unique style and a well justified role.

The first half is totally enjoyable with back to back funny scenes. The dialogues are witty and apt as per the flow of the film. The comic timing and small nuances in the movie are perfect.

The cinematography is good and presents the movie in a stylish manner. The special effects related to Arjun's double role is mind blowing. 'Hawa Hawa' and 'The Goggle Song' are enjoyable.

Director Annes Bazmee is known for giving us some of the enjoyable comedies right from his writer days. His movies have been enjoyed and cherished by the mass audience on the silver screen as well as television. Though, he has been labelled as typical masala potboiler director, but 'Mubarakan' is unlike his many massy kind of comical films. The comedy out here is subtle and clean. It's a film where you can enjoy with your family.

Anil Kapoor is sweet and charming in this movie. Arjun Kapoor as Charan is highly lovable as well as enjoyable. Ileana D'Cruz looks beautiful and does her part with total grace. Ratna Pathak Shah and Pawan Malhotra are very good.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The finale is decent but should have more funny elements attached to it.The humour dries out in the middle portions, but tries to make it up in the later part of the film. Arjun-Neha-Athiya track starts on the right note, but fails to enhance. It's a bit cluttered and unconvincing.

Due to the weak writing of this part, the track of Arjun Kapoor gets diluted. Some of the characters in the film are super loud. Music has to be fantastic or peppy in such kind of films. It's just that couple of tracks are not up to the mark and the finale should have been more entertaining.

Neha Sharma, Rahul Dev, Karan Kundra are wasted.

Final 'Glitz'

'Mubarakan' is enjoyable and celebrates the fun and the Kapoors. Fill you popcorn tub and go and enjoy this time pass masala entertainer.
