Mumbai blast accused wants to return to Portugal

Reports have surfaced that Abu Salem, one of the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai bombings case, had petitioned the European Court for Human Rights (ECHR) to return to Portugal, well ahead of his judgement from the Special Terrorism And Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act court.

He had reportedly petitioned in January 2017, claiming that his trial in India were illegal as his extradition order had terminated, as per a Lisbon court. Salem has been seeking his return to Portugal for quite some time now and has said that he faced inhuman treatment while in detention.
