Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films’ Murder 3 has done a business of 13.31 cr nett domestic box office in its opening weekend thereby ensuring that distributors, exhibitors & the producers post handsome profits from the project.

Starring Randeep Hooda, Aditi Rao Hyadri and Sara Loren, the film notched up exciting numbers on a strong showing at the multiplex screens. A U/A certified film, directed by debutant Vishesh Bhatt, son of producer, Mukesh Bhatt, Murder 3 has a strong women centric core that has connected well with its women audience as well.

The film has done well on word of mouth publicity and is expected to hold well through the week. Murder 3 released across 1350 screens in India. The film’s opening day collections were the highest ever for any solo Randeep Hooda starrer. And it’s not just the audience, the distributors too are pitching in with their words of praise.

Mumbai based distributor and exhibitor, Rahul Haksar says," Randeep Hooda has proved that he is now here to stay. The first day figures of Murder 3 is Hooda’s career best outing as a solo male lead. The film will give the fraternity greater confidence to take him as solo lead in future projects."

Meanwhile,Arvind Chapalkar, owner of City Pride adds, - Emraan Hashmi has been the face of Murder franchise, however, despite there being no Emraan this time around, the audience came out in good numbers to see Murder 3. It goes on to show the power of Murder franchise and also, the rising stardom of Randeep Hooda.

Murder 3 has also been in news for the reinvention of the Murder brand. With the opening weekend figures looking good, the stress on better content has worked well. Prakhar Joshi, from PVR adds,"A U/A certified film, Murder 3 is the first from the franchise where families have come out to see the film. It’s taken a turn towards greater content and lesser titillation. The film has a good word of mouth and I am hoping it will hold on during the week...

Sanjay Ghai, COO Mukta Arts pitches in saying, "A debutant director along with a non A lister star cast, Murder 3 had its odds staked up from Day 1. Yet, it did exceedingly well over the weekend. It will be unfair to compare it with Murder 1 and 2 figures because Murder 3’s premise is different and it is a woman's oriented subject."

And it’s not just Randeep, even Aditi’s performance has come for a praise, Anant Verma, Business Head, DT Cinemas sums up, saying, “Women showed particularly greater interest in Murder 3. That’s because of its connect with women who responded well to Aditi’s character, Roshni, who has done a great job in the film."

Murder 3, made on a small budget, became a profitable venture from Day 1 and a strong showing by the film during the opening weekend, is set to give handsome profits to all the stakeholders including Vishesh Films & Fox Star Studios.
