It is because of one magnificent personality, hat trick hero Shivarajakumar, the film `Mylari' is tolerable. Director Chandru with one hit `Taj Mahal' one flop in `Prem Kahani' is still at the novice stage to handle a film of Shivarajakumar.

It is not possible for an actor like Shivarajakumar to keep his concentration on every move and frame of the film. When R Chandru has got such a tremendous fan following star Shivarajakumar and very seasoned producers Kanakapura Srinivas and KP Shrikanth with lovely music director Gurukiran and exceptionally beautiful cameraman KS Chandrasekhar he should have been careful.

The narration of the film in the flash back technique is not the only area director R Chandru has concentrated. The scenes should have been well measured. It is in this area director R Chandru goes very weak. The college scenes of a 47 years old actor Shivarajakumar, the melodrama, the hero role losing strength at some places, getting beaten up is not tolerated by the fans of the actor. Such things are the commercial elements what R Chandru should have studied. His home work is very poor and looks at the opposition leader like a ruling party leader. The goat `Mylari' that was told as very essential part of the film has nothing of that sort.

Most parts of the film are set in the village background. Mylari (Shivarajakumar) is not good student. He is a short tempered youth from childhood. His father yells at him for his incapability. Mylari is not able to express his love to Anitha (Sada) a childhood friend for 20 years.

When he approaches Anitha with a love proposal her brother intervenes and out of fear Anitha fails to express her love. For expressing love to the aristocratic family girl the father of Mylari charges are slapped on him and he is sent out of the house.

Mylari catching the private bus to Bangalore finds some support from his long time friend Guru (Guruprasad) working in the tabloid newspaper `Khadga'. The firebrand Mylari from the day one gives an investigative story that becomes a talk of the town and also a final call to the life of Guru and his family. For revealing the shady deals of opposition leader the penalty becomes heavy. Mylari pounces upon the opposition leader and he brings Mylari to the prison. He is sentenced to death for being a part of the big ruckus.

Mylari has surprises in his life because of his writings on freedom of the country. The book he authors gets the state award. He also gets the `Kshamadana' from President of India. Mylari traces Anitha in Bangalore and lives with her two children.

An electrifying performance has come from Shivarajakumar. He looks much younger to his age in dance. The fast beats and twists and turns makes Shivarajakumar admirable. His potentiality in emotional scenes and live wire performances in action scenes have not dropped in this amazing actor.

Sada has a very cool role but that is lost in the hustle and bustle of other scenes in the film. Sanjaana has one song and give lively looks.

Ravi Kaale as a jailor showing interest in the life of a criminal is in an unexpected role. Suresh Mangalore and Yashas are apt.

Gurukiran is another notable contributor after Shivarajakumar in this film `Mylari'. There is melody, fast beat, peppy song and a sorrowful song too. The cinematography of talented Chandrasekhar is another additional boon for this film. Every frame especially in the dance with number of co dancers Chandraskehar has shown extra skill.
