Amid raging protests by the pro-Kannada outfits and farmers associations of Karnataka against the Supreme Court ordered release of Cauvery water for Tamil Nadu, there has been criticisms that the Nadigar Sangam has failed to do anything in favor of 'Cauvery for Tamil Nadu' and condemn the atrocities against Tami people living in Karnataka.

Now the South Indian Artists Association (Nadigar Sangam) has issued a detailed statement signed by its President Nasser and General Secretary Vishal.

The statement traces how the water sharing treaties have been drafted and followed across the globe and expressed regret that the state of Karnataka is not respecting any of them.

The statement criticizes the Kannada film industry members who took part in the protests against release of water for Tamil Nadu according to the Supreme Court verdict and also condemns the burning of effigies of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha.

The statement also thanks the Kannada actor Sivarajkumar who, with a level headed approach, condemned the protesters for abusing the Tamil Nadu CM.

Hailing the CM Jaya for her timely action in approaching the Supreme Court and successfully getting the state's share of Cauvery water, the Nadigar Sangam has said that its further course of action in consultation with the other organisations of Tamil film industry will be to add strength to the decisions taken by the Chief Minister in this regard.

The full statement can be read in Tamil language in the below link.
