The film fraternity across the country is understandably outraged at what is happening to Kamal Haasan. In related developments, disgust has been expressed from Bombay to Hyderabad. While Mahesh Bhatt termed the humilition that Kamal has been subjected to as one of the darkest moments for the film world, he also described him as a "national treasure."

In Hyderabad, Nag has been quoted as saying by a daily, "He is a serious film-maker who would not ever do anything to hurt the sentiments of any community or disturb communal harmony. I saw a few clips from the film when I met him two months ago here in Hyderabad and I saw nothing offensive."

Ace producer Suresh Babu expressed his "frustration" at the fact that the film is not being allowed in TN, when it is running successfully in AP and Karnataka. He said that it is the duty of the state to protect the right holder.

Brahmanandam said that a film has to be looked at as art, no matter what it is about.
