Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, the grandson of Akkineni Nageswara Rao and the son of Nagarjuna, made his debut with ‘Josh’ and proved as an artiste of calibre with ‘Ye Maya Chesave’.

Presently, he is busy with a film under the direction of Sukumar and produced by Bunny Vasu on the banner of Gita Arts.

Recalling, his maternal grandfather’s wish to remake the classic ‘Gundamma Katha’, Naga Chaitanya expressed his consent to re- enact the role played by his paternal grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao in the classic and says he was ready to share the screen with NT Rama Rao, if he could accept the offer to play the role of his grandfather NT Rama Rao senior.

It is worth mentioning here that senior producer and Movie Moghul, Dr D Ramanaidu, had wished to remake all-time classic films like ‘Ramudu Bheemudu’, ‘Patala Bhairavi’ and ‘Gundamma Katha’ and NT Rama Rao is evading to give a direct answer to the senior producer.

With Chaitu coming forward to play the role, let us presume that NTR would also give a positive signal for the project. However, one had to wait and watch who would play the role of ‘Gundamma’, on the lines of Suryakantham. It would be definitely a daring step for the young generation to re-enact the all-time classic, which their seniors like Balakrishna and Nagarjuna failed to dare.
