Yet another late release, Viji Thampi's `Nammal Thammal' fails to qualify as a better made movie, primarily due its very lousy handling of the climax and related portions. A recycled, redundant tale that doesn't impress many, the movie is not likely to find many takers at the Box Office.
The movie opens with Vicky (Prithviraj) being elected as the student's union chairman of an engineering college. A campus brat who madly loves his fellow student, Anu (Geetu), Vicky is ready to do everything to be with her who inspires and instigates him to be on the better sides. Due to some misunderstandings regarding a campus bet, she moves away from Vicky, which starts making him uneasy.
To make Vicky miserable, Anu gets closer to a new admission in the college, Johnny (Indrajith), who was her childhood friend at Delhi. Taking chances of this situation, one of Vicky's sworn enemies who is after Anu makes the entire plot worse by repeatedly creating instances in which Vicky gets falsely implicated. Even after continuous misdeeds Vicky never takes time to locate the false doer and lands himself in more and more troubles.
Adding to this mayhem is a subplot involving the parents of Johny and Vicky played by Balchandramenon, Revathy and Suhasini. Taking the toll on the movie is their narratives about flashback episodes which are pretty predictable, as if in a telesoap. Taking it too seriously, this mistaken identity game falls into an eighties storyline where brothers quarrel between each other with out knowing about their common inheritance.
In the acting front Prithviraj and Indrajith have not much to do than what they are into recently. Geethu Mohandas shares Zero chemistry with the lead actors, though she had tried to appear convincing. Senior actors safe guard some scenes from falling into mediocrity but with very nonsensical, cliched dialogues they have very little in their armour to save the sequences. The highlight of the movie is definitely some good songs set to music by M Jayachandran. Melodies like ''Aaroral'' are already big hit among the masses.
Apart from these some visually appealing songs and a fast paced first half, there is not much in this movie.
